What to Expect

  • Group Warm Up: Prepare your body for exercise with a dynamic mobility routine. Learn how to use your warm-up to prevent injury and improve performance during your dance season.
  • Class 1: Join Christine for a class focused on muscle recruitment and core stabilization. Prevent injuries by learning how to properly engage your core while dancing.
  • Class 2: Join Katie while you unlock the secret to turning and jumping with incredible technique. We'll address the weaknesses in your body keeping you from your skills goals. Strengthen muscles from head to toe while learning how to improve balance, power and consistency.
  • Group Cool Down
  • Nutrition Class: Prepare for the demands of your season (and off season) from the inside out. You'll learn what to eat before and after competitions and practices , how to eat a balanced diet of whole foods plus the best foods for energy, building muscle and overall health.

Meet Your Instructors

Katie Groven, PT, INHC

Katie Groven is an ACSM certified personal trainer, INN certified holistic health coach and two time world champion dancer. She is the creator of dancer-fitness.com  an online exercise database designed to transform competitive dancers into athletic powerhouses. Katie has combined her 25 years of dance training and her fitness expertise to crack the code on improving skills, endurance and flexibility using strength training. Her signature strength training process called STRENGTHNIQUE is used by dozens of national and state champion teams all over the world. Katie travels the country cross training teams and studios including Larkin Dance Studio, home to World of Dance finalists Eva Igo, Ellie and Ava Wagner and The Trilogy. When she’s not training individual dancers or teams she’s spending quality time with her husband Chris, daughters Hazel and Amelia or growing her collection of Converse shoes.

Christine Lager, PT, DPT

Christine Lager, PT, DPT, is a licensed Doctor of Physical Therapy and owner of Minnesota Dance Physical Therapy, LLC. She specializes in dance rehabilitation, injury prevention, and safe return to sport. Christine is a former studio, high school, and collegiate dancer. Christine graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology - Exercise and Movement Science. She was a member of the Wisconsin Dance Team and later captain of the Wisconsin Premiere Dance Team. Christine then earned her Doctorate in Physical Therapy at Concordia University in St. Paul, Minnesota. In 2023, Christine created Minnesota Dance Physical Therapy to advocate for dancers and help them return to sport without limitations. She works closely with dance teams and dance studios throughout Minnesota. She is passionate about helping dancers find the optimal balance between mobility and strength.
